DIALOGUES BETWEEN ANCESTRAL TRADITION AND CONTEMPORARY DESIGN

Our mission

Curatoria is an online space that symbolizes the fusion between the native and sophistication. Through a careful selection of Latin American design, and collaborative work with indigenous communities, it seeks to revalue what is handmade, giving it a unique style and promoting conscious consumption.

The name Curatoria speaks of a careful selection of the most exquisite, paying special attention to the story behind each piece. Every object that is part of this ensemble gives off a unique energy, which allows us to interweave the ancestral with the luxury of what is handmade.

We want to professionalize artisanal work to turn it into a source of income for the communities that need it.

Behind the brand

A Puerto Rican with a lively spirit and vibrant energy, Astrid Muñoz experiences the world in infinite ways. Touring rustic landscapes and living in the jungle, visiting cosmopolitan cities and starring on the big catwalks, Astrid enjoys every way life manifests itself.

His upbringing was woven between scraps of fabric and buttons, learning craft techniques from his mother and his cousins, recreating the designs of the great references of his time. He emigrated to Paris when he was very young, where with determination and effort, he managed to have his Latin exoticism recognized on the most emblematic Haute Couture catwalks and the covers of the most prestigious magazines in the fashion industry. After a decade of very successful modeling career, this versatile woman decided to move to the other side of the lens. Throughout an important career of training and international exhibitions, Astrid explored fashion photography, starting with self-portraits, and working alongside the most relevant references. She then explored documentary photography, which led her to make countless trips to exotic and unexpected places, authentically portraying landscapes and their inhabitants. This artist captures with her camera the beauty of the moment, the real, the genuine, through a sensitive gaze.

Astrid has always been interested in learning about the worldview and culture of local artisans. To experience the magic of artisan hands that create unique objects, marked by the imprint of their creator. Because for Astrid, the secret of each piece is in the energy it gives off, in the way it moves everyone who is in front of it.

Stepping firmly, this woman was forging her own destiny. Interweaving his passions with his experiences and his spirit, today he assumes the visionary role of combining the most sophisticated and unique of Latin American design and art with the ancestral techniques of his land. Thus, Astrid Muñoz gives life to Curatoria, where she reveals her vision of the world.
